Manchester Airport’s international artist in residence latest work is to be exhibited at a special event to celebrate Burns night.
Rob Pointon, who became the airport’s artist in residence in 2016, recently visited Inverness and Orkney with Loganair to capture the beauty of Scotland in his paintings. He will be showcasing his work on the 25th January at a Scottish themed Platform Airport City event at the Manchester Airport interchange.
The event held at Platform Airport City is free to attend will take place between 11.30am and 2.00pm with traders including 4 Lunch, Somtam, Backs Deli and Alex's Bakery offering a wide range of meals and snacks including some Scottish themed delicacies. Loganair will also be attending and offering one lucky a visitor the chance to win a pair of flights to Stornoway (Isle of Lewis).
Caitlin Callaghan from Platform Airport City, said: "We're really excited to kick-off 2019 with a Scottish themed event for Burn's Night and hope to build on the success of Platform last year, which combined interesting street food with unique cultural offerings that proved popular with visitors and people working nearby.
"Our aim is to provide not only a platform for local traders and artist to showcase their wares but to build a sense of community around Airport City, bringing together the people who work here and offering something a bit different to passengers making their way through the Airport and its ground transport interchange."
Platform Airport City, located within Manchester Airport’s Transport Interchange, is a vibrant and interactive space for visitors and employees working at Airport City Manchester to socialise, network and enjoy food and drink from around the world. Hosted on the last Friday of each month between 11:30am and 2pm, Platform Airport City brings together a variety of pop-up food stalls from specially-picked traders, showcasing cuisines from destinations that Manchester Airport flies to alongside the best of the Greater Manchester community.
