Amazon announced the creation of 1,500 jobs at Airport City, taking 654,000 sq ft warehouse at Global Logistics – opened in summer 2016.


October 2015

President of China Xi Jinping visited Airport City and Manchester Airport as the closing event in his UK state visit – generating over 5,000 pieces of international media coverage. Along with Prime Minister David Cameron, President Xi launched the £130million ‘China Cluster’ at Airport City and direct route from Manchester to Beijing with Hainan Airlines.


August 2014

Strong demand for logistics property, as planning applications is submitted for 130,000 sq ft and 270,000 sq ft at Global Logistics to respond to growing occupier demand.


March 2014

Airport City announced plans for its first international road show to China, which took place in June 2014 and attracted 200 delegates across four key cities.

DHL announced as first occupier at Global Logistics and commenced occupation in October 2014.


October 2013

Manchester Airports Group announced a joint venture agreement with Beijing Construction Engineering Group, Carillion and the Greater Manchester Pension Fund to deliver Airport City Manchester.
