Airport City Manchester celebrates 'Bee in the City'

Catch '80 Years around the world', 'SneezeBee' and the 'Overgrown' Bee as part of the Wythenshawe Bee trail, before they buzz off in October.

During the last couple of months, Wild in Art and Manchester City Council have been bringing Manchester’s communities together for Bee in the City, one of the most spectacular public art events the city has ever seen.

There are over 100 Bee’s in the city and each has been designed by a different artist to celebrate the unique buzz of Manchester, from its industrial heritage to its vibrant music scene.

Manchester Airport Group and Airport City Manchester are extremely proud to be supporting this event, with our very own Bee ’80 Years Around The World’. The theme is fitting given the location of our Bee is at Manchester Airport, which has routes to more than 220 global destinations. It’s also a nod to our Airport’s 80th birthday in 2018, with the Bee portraying Phileas Fogg, the famous fictional explorer from the Jules Verne novel ‘Around the World in 80 Days’.

The Bee is located within the Ground Transport Interchange at Manchester Airport, which is also the home of Airport City Manchester’s event space ‘Platform’, that takes place during the second Wednesday and last Friday of each month. You can find out more here: www.platformairportcity.com

If you haven’t visited our Bee yet, then why not take part in the Wythenshawe Bee trail. Located within a close proximity of each other you can visit ‘Sneezebee’ at the Medicines Evaluation Unit (MEU), ‘Overgrown’ at the Forum Centre, and ‘80 Years around the world’ at Manchester Airport. Bee quick to visit as you have until 23rd September before they buzz to the auction in October.
