“We’ve been involved with Airport City Manchester for three years now,” said Mr Yu, “It’s a very exciting and promising major development, not just for Manchester but for the whole of the North West and wider northern region.
“In the context of the other major regeneration and infrastructure projects already underway in the region such as the expansion of Manchester Airport itself, Atlantic Gateway, road building and improvements to the rail network; coupled with the outstanding Universities which attract a major talent pool and increasingly retaining that talent in the region, there is a lot to be optimistic about for future investment – not just in Airport City but in the region.
“The already established links and relationships Manchester has with China, such as the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and the China Forum network, help reaffirm the “open to do business” attitude presented by the local authorities and business community.
“From our perspective at BCEGI more opportunities lie in increased ties with China, which we are already seeing, and the ease of capital flows between the UK and China. It is essential the region collectively promotes itself to international markets – Manchester Airport Group are leading the way with recent new route announcements to Houston, Texas and the recently launch Hainan Airlines flights to Beijing and Airport City.
“There are an abundance of opportunities on offer and I would encourage any international investors planning to establish a presence in the UK to take a close look at Manchester.”
